GF board
I stayed there on Thursday and Friday night, and had telephoned to ask for gf breakfast.
Next morning, despite the info being on their screen on check-in and the manager informing them whilst I checked in, there was no bread, no cornflour for pancakes, the chef couldn't guarantee the beans etc were safe, the tongs for the sausages were being used for the bacon......... All I had was fruit and an omelette I had to request.
If full English breakfast at these hotels costs £15 a head, I think it is a very poor show that they cannot at least provide gf toast. My husband had opportunity for cereals, croissants, different breads, buns etc etc. He was more upset than me!
I didn't make a fuss but staff were really apologetic and asked me if I would wait whilst they popped down to Tesco for some bread! I didn't but they assured me that bread would be available for next morning. The manager then came and offered a complimentary evening meal to both of us. Mine was gf and delicious!!
Next morning, the MD prepared the toast herself and assured me it was safe from cross-contamination. She then said that a client had requested a gf sandwich in room-service the previous evening and they'd been able to accommodate. She was delighted to have had the bread available!
So, that is my London trips done for this year - I think! We are off to Liverpool next week, staying at the Travel Lodge. No breakfast ordered there so any ideas on breakfasts local to this Travel Lodge (in the city centre) would be most appreciated, Ha ha.
