www.italiancotto.co.uk/London ... Posted by Sue on 17/4/2008, Cottos is an italian restaurant in 89 Westminster Bridge road (more or less opposite the tube entrance for Lambeth Bridge) and the owner is a coeliac. He can do gluten free pasta and pizza and serves gluten free bread rolls too. I went there in Novenmber and it was lovely. I think it is in easy walking distance of Waterloo too. Gluten-free pizza, pasta, gnocchi, garlic bread... ..... visited Italian restaurant Cotto on Westminster Bridge Road for dinner on Tuesday night. As I'd read in many reviews, the welcome was as warm as you could hope for in a restaurant and I felt transported back to when I lived in Florence. It is a family-run, small Italian restaurant that has good food at its heart - and boy, is it good! The owner (who is originally from Naples but has lived in London for years) has been Coeliac for 20 years .....and there are more g-f things on the menu than I've found anywhere else so far!
I had a pizza, which, although it was a bought base - so smaller and thicker than homemade, it was just so nice to be able to have a pizza in a restaurant and not worry about it! The toppings were delicious and it was such a treat. The non-g-f pizzas looked amazing too. ... For pudding I had tartufo nero which was again, brilliant - and amazing to have more choice than just plain ice cream or sorbet. .............. it's really near things like the London Aquarium etc so a great place to pop in and have some g-f, warming lunch.

Cotto's London Posted by Colin (London( on 9/10/2009 GF board If you are in the vicinty of Waterloo it is well worth trying Cotto's. The owner was diagnosed as a coeliac 20 years ago and the restaurant (a family pizza and pasta restaurant) has its own dedicated gf kitchen. If you are going as a party they will arrange a special menu for you provided you give them a week's notice. More details at www.italiancotto.co.uk/. I have no allegiance to Cotto's other than two very enjoyable meals. The address is 89 Westminster Bridge Road ******************** Good restaurant in London Posted by Audrey on 23/11/2009 GF board Have just returned from a weekend in London. Had a lovely meal at Cotto Italian restaurant, just opposite Lambeth North Station. Owner coeliac. I didn't book, just dropped in off the street. All but 5 items on the menu available GF, including lovely bread. Just over half the sweets are also GF. Very welcoming. Cotto Italian Restaurant - Bar, Pizzeria and Restaurant - 89 Westminster Bridge Road, Waterloo, London, SE1 7HR For Reservation Phone 020 7928 5535 Website: www.italiancotto.co.uk/Lambeth North is not far from the South Bank, Imperial War Museum, London Eye, National Theatre, etc. and lots of buses pass, as well as the tube link. **************** Posted by Colin (London) on 9/10/2009, 20:40:50 …you don't need to warn them in advance. They will put a small dish of alives on the table and offer you bread. At that point I ask if I can have a gluten-free roll. When you are given the menu just ask which items are gluten-free. It is a family run restaurant so Mum, Dad, their son and daughter know all about the coeliac condition. If they suggest a dish, as they did today, go for it. Senor Cotto has probably already had it for his own lunch. Their house red is delicious,… ….If you come out of the main entrance of St Thomas's turn right and walk down towards the roundabout with the big building on it. Stay on the Tommies side of the road. Take the second exit from the roundabout (Kennington Road), go under the railway bridge and continue along on that same side of the road. You pass a German restaurant and various shops, then a NatWest bank and Cotto's is next door. I suppose it is about a quarter of a mile from the hospital. If you get lost at all, it is almost directly opposite Lambeth North tube station (Bakerloo Line). ***********
