The Medieval Banquet, London

GF board
I went to my wife's work Christmas party on Saturday night held at The Medieval Banquet in London (St. Katharine's Dock, near to Tower Bridge). My GF dietary requirements were made known at the time of booking a few months ago, and the message which came back via my wife's colleague who was organising the event was that GF would be no problem. Past experience has led me to have low expectations, especially on large, mass catering events at this time of year.
Well what I surprise I had ! The salmon salad for starters was GF anyway, and then the pumpkin & apple soup (again GF) arrived, followed by some rather large chunks of "normal" bread. Before I had time to think "Oh well, I'll go without", some gluten free bread arrived for me. Not just a little bit mind you, it was a whole Antoinette Savill loaf !
So to the main course, the roast chicken in brandy and orange sauce - a separate half a roast chicken without the sauce arrived just before the others got their main courses. There didn't appear to be an alternative to the yuletide tart for pudding but to be honest I'd eaten and drunk so much by then I wasn't too bothered about that.
Just goes to show that some places can adapt their usual menu to make GF meals easily, without too much effort. It was all the more pleasing because it was done on a busy night with 500 people there. Not only that but the food was good quality and it's good night out too. So well done to them.
