I expected Gossip to be a buzzing brasserie full of ladies who lunch. With its name, its Chelsea location and its lunchtime-only opening hours, you would think that, wouldn't you? Even the menu - with its many vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options - has 'fashionistas who don't eat much' written all over it. But on our visit lunching ladies were nowhere to be seen: instead, the spacious courtyard of this otherwise spartan organic café was overrun with families with kids
.....In the interests of journalistic duty we even tried gluten-free cookies - you may have to be on a gluten-free diet to appreciate them.
For the prices and the location, the cooking here lacks finesse and is rough around the edges. Good food isn't only about ingredients, it's also about cooking ability - and just because something is organic doesn't mean it will taste wonderful. Sejal Sukhadwala
