Posted by Jill on GF board in reply to "Eating out in London" If you are into Tex Mex then the Texas Embassy in Trafalgar Square will provide corn tortillas (instead of the normal flour tortllas)for fajitas. I have tried many indian resturants and all fine if avoid the breads. Tapas reastuarants usually have good selection too - they all seem to be able to easily tell you which items have flour in. There is one just offf Regent Street - towards the Picadilly Circus end, off to the left as you walk down from Oxford Street - sorry cant remeber the road name) which was very good. There are also a number in Putney if you are that way. If you get out to Kingston or Richmond - both have Vegetarian restauranst that label the menu - excellent food. The Kingston one has a particularly large menu and overlooks the Thames - opens out onto it so in the summer you can eat outside. Do need to book though as wins awards and is very popular. Richmond one usualyl dont need to book. Ham House Posted by LouB on 8/9/2008 GF board Visited Ham House near Richmond yesterday (National Trust). Couldn't believe it - they had a choice of FOUR home-made cakes which were GF and WF, TWO types of Mrs Crimble's cakes AND Eat Natural bars. In fact, you had very little choice but to eat OUR type of cake as apart from scones, there wasn't much else with wheat in the 'afternoon tea' department. What a result! www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w- ... mhouse.htm ******************

Gluten free eating out - Richmond Upon Thames

Gf board
….
I just wanted to post about a positive experience eating out. If anyone wants to eat out in the Richmond area I highly recommend Don Fernando's for tapas.
……. I went to Don Fernando's ….and explained the situation and could they help? And help they did. The lady proceeded to whisk out an allergy menu, explain everything and be more helpful than you can ever imagine. I could also eat nearly everything on the menu. It was wonderful. After taking my order she even came over to double check as she had some doubts about one dishI had chosen. It could not have been a more positive experience.
And so, I am highly recommending them!! A safe place and a gorgeous meal at a reasonable price.
