Posted by Jill on GF board in reply to "Eating out in London" If you are into Tex Mex then the Texas Embassy in Trafalgar Square will provide corn tortillas (instead of the normal flour tortllas)for fajitas. I have tried many indian resturants and all fine if avoid the breads. Tapas reastuarants usually have good selection too - they all seem to be able to easily tell you which items have flour in. There is one just offf Regent Street - towards the Picadilly Circus end, off to the left as you walk down from Oxford Street - sorry cant remeber the road name) which was very good. There are also a number in Putney if you are that way. If you get out to Kingston or Richmond - both have Vegetarian restauranst that label the menu - excellent food. The Kingston one has a particularly large menu and overlooks the Thames - opens out onto it so in the summer you can eat outside. Do need to book though as wins awards and is very popular. Richmond one usualyl dont need to book. Riverside Vegetaria, 64 High Street, Kingston, Surrey, KT1 1HN Tel: 020 8546 7992 Quietly situated on Kingston High Street, overlooking the Thames is one of Britain’s finest fifty vegetarian restaurants, as voted by national newspaper, ‘The Independent’. Otherwise known as the Riverside Vegetaria, this vegetarian heaven has been established since 1989. The cosmopolitan menu is specialised so that it consists of a wide variety of vegetarian, vegan, GM-free, gluten-free and wheat-free dishes. Despite these distinctive and unique criteria, the ingenious chefs are able to prepare the dishes with minimal amounts of fat, using only extra virgin olive oil. Try the flavoursome soups such as Nutty Parsnip Soup, Cauliflower & Almond soup. Mouth-watering starters such as Stuffed Capsicum or Garlic Mushrooms, or wonderful main courses like Caribbean Casserole and Tofu Teriyaki and if you have a sweet tooth there is a selection of sensational desserts such as Vegan Chocolate Fudge cake, Mango Kulfi and many more. ‘The Riverside Vegetaria' has received many awards over the years including the 'Environmental Pride Award for the Most Inviting Restaurant’. In fine weather, glass doors are opened out onto the riverbank and al fresco dining is almost irresistible. There is room for romantic, candlelit meals over the tranquil River Thames on summer nights - a rare treat in Kingston! It is spacious enough to accommodate large parties, but at the same time reserves a cosy and homely atmosphere. Two great meals! Posted by Helen on 22/8/2007 Gf board I have been lucky enough to eat out twice this week. On Sunday I went to Riverside Vegetaria in Kingston-on-Thames with the South Surrey group, they had a special gf menu for us but their regular menu is marked up with wheat-free options and they make pancakes from lentil flour. Monday was my Dad's birthday and we went to Brula Bistrot in St Margaret's. My mum had phoned ahead and they said they would be able to accommodate me. I had chilled watercress soup, followed by poussins and for dessert - chocolate parfait - heaven! Link: www.brula.co.uk/contact_brulabistrot.htm Brula Bistrot 43 Crown Road, St Margarets.
