Hurrah - eating out success

GF board
My husband and I were out and about over Easter and found a couple of great places to eat so thought I would share them with you. I find it very frustrating when restaurants have been recommended for providing gluten free options only to get there and realise it’s actually steak and jacket potato or salad. No real effort there!! I am always looking for places that MAKE gluten free meals as this normally means they have a much better understanding of our condition and the risks of cross contamination etc. Both of the following were well organised and very well informed (forgive me if they have already been mentioned on this site).
Market House Tea Rooms, Moreton in the Marsh, Glos – Lovely little tea rooms in pretty Cotswold town. Very near to Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold so great for a nice day out. They have a completely separate gluten free menu with soup, several hot dishes inc. lasagne (meat & veggie), chips cooked in a dedicated fryer, numerous sponge cakes and proper puddings like apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding. They also do a proper GF cream tea and a GF roast dinner on Sunday. They are open 7 days a week. The staff were extremely helpful. We will have to revisit because I have promised myself one of their puddings!! See their website for more info.

The New Inn, Dowlish Wake, Ilminster – Turned up here on Easter Sunday with no booking and we had a lovely roast dinner. The chef came out to see me personally to discuss what I could have – they don’t indicate what items are GF on the main menu but he said he could adapt lots of things for me. Obviously I couldn’t have the Yorkshire pudding but that’s a small price to pay. I queried the gravy situation and he kindly fetched the pot to show me it was gluten free vegetable mix to which he added a bit of red wine and some herbs to give some flavour. I didn't have a dessert but there were a couple of things I could have had. Again all the staff were friendly and helpful and we will definitely go there again. Website
