More on La Tasca Posted by Rachel on GF board
I contacted Las Tasca before we try out the Bath branch, to check whether any puddings are GF. They replied immediately:
Thank you for your email. As part of our process of making all gluten free dishes marked on the menus, we have completed the main menu but are still in the process of looking at the dessert menu. The desserts are sourced from an authentic supplier in Spain and Debra Petrucci our Brand Manager is waiting for further information for us to check all ingredients and manufacturing procedures. To be safe at this stage Debra has suggested that the fruit salad and ice cream are the only definite safe options for you at the moment.

Eating out in Bath This is the latest Bath eating out guide, you can select if you are on a specific diet including g.f. www.visitbath.co.uk/ you can also access any information fron the information centre via this page, there are lots of places to eat in Bath for people on a g.f. diet. from Jerry ********************* The Cross Keys, Bath. Recommended by a coeliac friend, we had a very good gluten-free meal here last week. Can also do dairy-free and wheat-free. Very friendly landlady who can provide a list of safe menu options on request; will also do special meals with more notice. It's on the southern edge of Bath on Midford Rd, as you go out towards Midford and Hinton Charterhouse. Has a beer garden with swings and large aviary too. From Rachel ************** Re: Eating Out In Bath Posted by Rachel on 19/3/2007 GF board There's a La Tasca on Broad St, a Nandos in the Odeon centre, M & S down the main shopping street, several good Indian restaurants (the Eastern Eye on Quiet St. is good but big). Also a good pub which has a GF/WF section of the menu - the Cross Keys on Midford Rd., which is a bit out of town but worth the trip. Further afield, the Woolpack in Beckington (about 12 miles South of Bath) marks which items are GF on its menu. I've also had very nice meals at the Talbot Inn in Mells - they need advance warning but seem to handle most dietary needs in their stride. *********************

Great meal out in Bath
Posted by Rachel on 8/3/2004(GF board)
We went again to the Cross Keys on the edge of Bath and had a fantastic meal the other night. I have already put this place on the GF map, but it has really underlined for me that there should be some distinction between those places which claim to be able to do special diets but no-one's actually checked it, and those that really do go out of their way to make sure they are GF/DF. The Cross Keys states clearly on the menu that they welcome people with special dietary requirements, and the owner/chef came out to talk me through the menu and point out everything that was or could be made GF (they do WF and DF too). They don't need you to phone in advance either - this range of food is always available (at least half of what was on the menu). How about if we write a short review when we've been somewhere good and that actually goes on the map along with their entry?

Re: Devizes and Bath - restaurants? Posted by Tracey on GF board I manage two hotels, one in Bath and one in Hereford. We specialise in gluten free food as all of our food is homemade, often using local produce. We make our own gluten free bread, breakfast bread, bread rolls etc, in both hotels. Please call ahead and make a reservation for dinner and we will gladly provide you with a fine repast. Wentworth House Hotel, Bath Link: www.wentworthhouse.co.uk

Yummy food in Bath Posted by Marie on 22/9/2004 GF board Had a fab GF meal at Tilleys Bistro in Bath last night. It had an extensive Vegetarian menu (as big as the meat and fish one!) and over half of the choices we either gluten free, or they could make them gluten free for me. They even offered some GF options that were not on the menu! Waiter was very knowledgeable about GF and only too pleased to help. As well as all that the food was great and enjoyed by non GF husband too. I will defiantly be going back and would strongly recommend it to anyone in the Bath area. Link: tilleysbistro.co.uk -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yummy Cakes! GF board Posted by Deirdre on 5/4/2009 Thought I would share with you the lovely sight that met me when I went shopping yesterday. I visted Green Park Market in Bath as I usually do and strolled past a stall selling scrummy looking cakes thinking If only.... when I suddenly noticed the words "Wheat Free" & "Gluten Free" on the display board. I quickly stopped and discovered that ALL the cakes were g/f - they had small cakes, large cakes, & cup cakes and all looked equally delicious. I spoke to the lady running it who said this was a new venture and that they were supplying cafes in Bath with their cakes and had just opened the stall. I think they are called the True Food Company. I tasted some samples which were lovely and came away with 2 Raspberry & Fresh Cream muffins. All suitable for freezing and made with Bia Nua flour which is also made in Somerset. Bia Nua also have a stall on the 3rd Sat of the month at Bath. I was going to have another sample on my way back to the carpark and ask her more about the cafes that were selling her wares but there were too many people gathered round the stall. I devoured one muffin yesterday and I doubt that the other will last much longer as it looks at me from the tin saying "Eat Me!" The stall will be there again next Sat as I will if I can make up my mind which ones to buy?..... Sorry if I've gone on a bit but I do like my cakes - especially when I don't have to make them! Oh I know of one cafe in Bath that already has a nice range of G/F cakes - It is upstairs in Shoon in New Bond Street - ment to mention it before. .......... Re: Yummy Cakes! Posted by Sue on 6/4/2009 There are quite a few restaurants which have gluten free menus in Bath. ……. In November we went to Tilleys Bistro and the chefs there had started making gluten free bread to serve with the meals. It was very nice. Do you know the Bath sausage shop in one of the side streets in the centre of town? They do several gluten free varieties which you can buy. ***************

A excellent restaurant in Bath is called Raphael's. They are very knowledgeable about coeliacs food etc and v helpful. In the road between Cafe Nero coffee shop and the Theatre.A smallish road that cuts across the pedestrianised road. Quite posh inside and we find it a real treat without being expensive.Often do meal deals like 2 courses for £10-£12.
