Cakes and Slices-Notts Posted by Lucy (leics) on 19/4/2006 GF board I found this company on the internet a few days ago, and saw they had a stall on the Mansfield farmers market yesterday. So we went and bought some of the cakes which are very nice. They can also adapt a recipe to your liking. They will be at Nottingham farmers market on the 21st April 2006. Posted by Rob Marsh on 17/2/2007 Gf board You can orders GF cakes on-line from www.cakesandslices.co.uk (who I think are based in Mansfield and supply to several local shops/tea shops). I ordered two last week and they arrived within 2 days in perfect condition and tasted great. I've used several other websites and can honsetly say that in terms of ease of ordering, price, delivery and quality I haven't found better Hope this helps Rob Link: www.cakesandslices.co.uk ***********

02/07/2011 The River Bank Bar and Kitchen Trent Bridge Nottingham Large new conversion near cricket ground overlooking river at Trent Bridge Nottingham, not far from town centre. This large building has a bar and a restaurant with inside and outside space. At the time of writing the bar has a good tapas menu where quite a lot was gf and the waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. I ate there with confidence and felt able to rely on the waiting staff without talking to the chef. www.riverbanknotts.co.uk/rest_pics.shtml

Hart's Nottingham Posted by Dawn on 8/10/2011, 10:19:53 82.41.202.x I stayed at Hart's in Nottingham for a wedding last weekend. Hart's prides itself on its food. www.hartsnottingham.co.uk/ I phoned three times before turning up, at various intervals to make sure that they could cater for a GF diet. Since the place is not cheap and I didn't want any issues for the wedding breakfast I wanted to make sure it all ran smoothly. Hart's has two separate kitchens - one in the restaurant (where the wedding was) and a second one in the bar where the breakfast is served. When I booked I was assured that a full English breakfast would be available for me, with GF sausages, bread, cereal etc bought in specially. I wanted to make sure I could have a decent breakfast as there wouldn't be any more food until the evening. The reality was very different, the chef had never heard of gluten free and thought it was a form of vegetarianism, trying to give me quorn sausages. They did have some GF bread available but this was toasted in the normal toaster (I was told that as it was a big toaster this wouldn't be a problem!). I had to explain about contamination to the chef and waiting staff who all thought I was mad. I ended up having to go to the kitchen to explain what I could and couldn't eat. Nobody had received the message that I was coming and I was left with the option of fruit, yoghurt etc. Eventually I was brought some overcooked poached eggs and some bacon. The wedding breakfast was fantastic - I was brought separate GF bread, slightly different food (no shortbread etc). The food was exemplary. On the second morning the breakfast was slightly better - a different chef. I would definitely advise the restaurant for lunch/ dinner but if staying make sure they know you are GF and be on the ball - I wasa told several times that the sausages were GF when they weren't etc. - hopefully there will be improvements in the future.
