The Lime kiln Posted by Sian n wales on 5/7/2005 Stopped on the off chance here last Sunday (it's at Porth y waen, just south of Oswestry. )They don't mark their menus GF and normally have a restricted menu of the Sunday dinners, veggie or fish bar meals, but they were very kind and helpful because we had rung en route to ask if they could cater. Becuse I was GF the gravy was a no no so I could pick something off the whole bar menu and they would check. My choice was beef goulash and it is normally made with cornflour but was so thick that day it didn't need thickener. Superb. we also shared a fishy starter and glad we did as all portions were large. Hubby was pleased as he had beef dinner with an extra Yorkie (mine methinks). No room for pudd but they looked ginormous! Shall definately detour that way again. www.thelimekiln.net/ ************** From Bill on GF board 5/7/2005 I live down the road from The Lime Kiln and have not been there since these people have been there but will give it a go, another one that I have been to and was very good is the Four Crosses Inn at Bicton just outside of Shrewsbury, they mark the menu GF and there was a good choice although the sweet was limited.
