Rachel Allen’s Almond Tartlets
Rachel Allen - BBC1 Saturday mornings Posted by Eileen on 28/1/2006
I enjoy watching this programme on Saturday mornings - often her recipes are GF. This morning she made almond tartlets, as follows:-
50g butter 50g ground almonds 50g caster sugar
Simply mix ingredients together, place in bun tins and cook.
..... I didn't write it all down but I would think these ingredients could easily burn so would suggest a temperature of 170deg, and cook for approx. 10-12 mins. The end result was a flat tartlet with curved edges.
Once cooked, she topped them with raspberry jam, clotted cream and a mint leaf.

A friend of mine often makes these for me, knowing that they suit my diet. I have the recipe written down with cooking temperature as 325F which would be about 170C as you suggest. No cooking time given - I think the instruction was to watch them VERY carefully. I have also written that 4oz quantity of each of the ingredients makes 24 so I suppose your quantities would make about a dozen. They rise up and then subside to give little hollow tartlets and are also delicious filled with sweetened stewed apple, topped with a blob of cream. They must not be filled too long in advance as they would go soft and disintegrate very quickly. They probably won't get the chance!
