From Sian on GF board Porthmadog itself has a Tesco, Somerfield,Lidl and small Spar. Nearest Morrisons is Caernarfon and for Marks it's Llandudno. Lunchtime snacky things there is a sandwich bar called Jessie's in the main street by the pelican crossing by Woolies who do good salad trays(eat in or take away). They also have a take away branch in Snowdon St. Kerfoots by the only roundabout also have a cafe upstairs that do the dreaded jacket spud but I usually ask for a sarnie without the bread but with salad which is lovely -but don't go there if you are in a rush and it gets busy! behind the pet shop (on the same roundabout) there is a kebab shop who got used to me taking in pitta bread for a kebab (it was opposite work!). Also near the pet shop there is a take away Indian. I haven't tried that one but the owners also have a restaurant near Porthmadog in Garndolbenmaen which was very good the times we have been. Tremadog just outside Portm. has a restaurant called The Sgwar and they are good on special diets both in the evening and lunchtime. In Harlech there is a pub near the railway crossing called Branwen (bar snacks and restaurant )and they mark their menus GF.For a real treat of course there is always Portmeirion hotel - only been there once

GF board
....In Llanbedr I sometimes go to Hen Feudy restaurant (but warn them first!) and they are good at telling me what I can have (but no bread provided), and if you are lucky there is a lovely pavlova for pudd. Much more pricey Cae Nest hotel in Llanbedr and also Maes y Neuadd hotel outside Talsarnau. Last edited by Lyn G on Mon May 26, 2008 6:50 pm, edited 1 time in total. Lyn G Site Admin Posts: 4761

DD has undoubtedly had her best holiday since dx, 5 years ago (she is nearly 10)
we went to porthmadog in north wales, stopping overnight on the way with friends near market bosworth - so we went to the batter of bosworth for GF fish and chips, great
in porthmadog we found that ALL the flavours of cadawallers ice cream parlour were GF and they had sign saying "GF cones available on request", great, DD usually has to make do with a wrapped lolly-type ice cream
we visited the Branwen pub in Harlech after someone said they could do Gf, sadly as with most places the kids menu was entirely NON GF, however, because they seemed to know what they were on about we felt safe having jacket potatoes cheese and beans
then on another day we had GF f&c again, at tir a mor in Llanwryst, again excellent
