Chocolate bread by Lyn G » Thu Nov 11, 2004 5:44 pm
From GF board:
Posted by JUles on 10/11/2004 I had run out of G/F packet bread and so as I had some Juvela Fibre Mix in the cupboard tonight, used that in my bread machine. I added a tbsp of cocoa powder and some sugar to taste and it has produced the most amazing "chocolate bread" as a treat for my daughter for tomorrow! I set it to rapid bake and it baked it in 2 hr 45 mins. I have a feeling they recommend using the rapid bake option for most GF flour in which case with my machine, you can't put this on the timer to be ready in the morning although you may be able to with some machines. I don't use my breadmaker all the time now but it is definitely handy to have & does produce nice, fresh bread. Having tasted the bread I made tonight, maybe I ought to go back to using it more often....! (Will have to wait for my daughter's comments in the morning once she has tried it!)
Emily had it for breakfast this morning and loved it! I bet she is the only one at school with chocolate bread sandwiches today!!! I used to make it before when she was younger before she got used to the taste of GF bread - it is lovely with sliced banana on - toasted or fresh!! The other thing I used to do was make some bread and add some raisins or sultanas to it - just makes it a bit more interesting for the children!
