Excellent GF in cafe

I have visited the Creamery Can cafe near Ballymena County Antrim a couple of times recently. This is a quaint little stone cafe located about 5 miles north of Ballymena just at the end of the north bound A26 dual carriageway, so ideal for those travelling to and from the north coast as this is the main route They offer some great home baked GF goodies, mainly cakes. These are exceptionally good and generously portioned. Last time I had an enormous piece of their Christmas crumble cake, a sponge cake with raspberries and nutty crumb. Served with raspberry coulis and cream it was by far the nicest GF cake that I have eaten in a cafe or restaurant. On my first visit I noted that the GF cake was located close to non GF cakes. I suggested that they raise it and provide a cover. On my next visit they had done exactly that. Great. The coffee is exceptional too. Two coffees and a big slice of cake with cream cost £5.95, cheaper than Costa and much better too. Friendly, helpful staff too.

Good idea, just remember that it is open 9 to 5 and closed on Sundays. The cafe is located about 25 miles from Larne Harbour and nearly 35 miles from Belfast Stenaline terminal. It is easy to find by simply turning left going north at the end of the dual carriageway and fifty yards on turn right. You can see the sign and the little building easily from the main road.
