Re: Cheese Scones recipe Posted by Trevor on 21/5/2012, 17:14:32, in reply to "Re: Cheese Scones" 300g Juvela fibre mix 4oz or 100g butter,I used pure as a substitute, but butter is best. 300g Pilgrims choice mature cheddar 1tsp doves farm baking powder 1 medium size egg with sufficient milk to make 125ml of liquid 1 tsp mustard powder (essential to bring out the flavour of the cheese) Salt and fresh ground pepper Instructions Oven temperature: 200ºC/400ºF/Gas Mark 6 15 min’s You will need: a baking tray, lightly greased Melt the butter in a large pan, I used a microwave. Add the Juvela Mix, baking powder, and salt and pepper in a bowl and rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the cheese, and gradually add the liquid to form soft but not sticky dough. Knead lightly until smooth and then roll out (1inch) thickness on a surface lightly dusted with Mix. Cut out using a scone cutter. Place on a baking tray, brush with remaining milk mixture and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Ps if mixture looks and feels too sticky just add a little more Juvela mix. Also I have used a lot of cheese as you can see, its not necessary to use that much its just I like to be able to taste the cheese and not a bland scone.
