GF board
I would also like to share my experience of being in East Surrey Hospital as a celiac. I obviously was nil by mouth for the first couple of days and then clear fluids, but when I was finally allowed to try soft foods, I was talked to by informed catering staff and given special red gluten free menus, which Cleary stated the food what gluten free and if there was a query, like chicken in gravy, it would state thickened with corn flour, even the GF bread was good. I was really impressed at a time when I was in pain and very low. I later emailed the hospital with my positive comments and got no less than three replies and an invitation to join their food and nutrition committee. Why don’t all celiac’s send supportive missives, with NHS cutbacks, this service might well suffer, but if people let those in charge know how much we are affected by it, it stands a chance.
