My hospital food experience
Posted by Angela on 7/12/2011
GF board Just back from a 2 day stay at Derby Royal, and very pleasantly surprised at the range of g/f food. Had toast and cereal for breakfast, Lunch was a cheese roll, raspberry mousse and fruit juice, for dinner I had a 3 course meal, with about 10 options for the main, Stew, Fish, Chicken etc. A very varied menu and nice to have such a choice of food, and not an omlette in sight !!!
From Emma just had a stay in Heartlands Hospital Birmingham. they were very accomodating. gluten free cereal, all the soups for lunch were g/f too. evening meals were in individual trays and served b4 the normal meals to avoid contamination issues. i asked at my pre op about it and the nurse spoke to the kitchen for me. the food was pretty foul but apparently the normal meals were too!! at least i was not ill though!
From Trevor Well I’m not sure Angela if you see that muck I got? Yours sounds more like a hotel I do hope they have now sorted your arm out for good. Take it easy and look after yourself. Next time I’m ill I’m asking for a transfer to the Derby Royal
