My husband is a diagnosed Coeliac and gets whatever he wants on prescription even though we live in a PCT area that has big restrictions. The arguement about "gluten free" is a very open one because gluten free only refers to foods made for a specific market and from an allergen source, yes you can survive without foods that have any connection with gluten. "Gluten Free" as a term has been around for some time as it refered to foods containing 200ppm of gluten per kilo and next january it will mean 20ppm

Hi Lesley, good to know your husband gets his fair share of GF scrips.
It is worth remembering it is up to the patient's GP (not the PCT) what a patient has on scrip, the PCT does not have the expertise & training to decide what is suitable for a patient but the GP does.

Hi, I'm in Kent too and aren't allowed anything anymore really, but I used to get bread, biscuits and flour mix when I first became coeliac years ago. At least the bread in the shops has got better, although it's not cheap.
