Nice GF in Ullapool Scotland

Tea by the Sea in Ullapool is a tiny little cafe/gift shop at the seafront (17 Shore St). It is run by a really friendly couple. The wife is a real character, delightfully exuberant, fun and really friendly. There are a few tables and one outside. It is a really small operation. There are no baked goodies for us but they looked good and appeared home made. When I mentioned that I couldn't eat anything she announced that I could have strawberry meringue with strawberry sauce and cream. No sign of it. I could not refuse this lovely lady's offer nor could my wife as she had an anticipatory "I'll have what he's having" moment. Out she came a few minutes later with a lovely meringue covered in sauce and loads of fresh strawberries. It was delicious. Added to a couple of cups of coffee (no lattes or capuccinos here)we were in heaven. The whole lot cost around £8 which was very good value. She also told me that she usually keeps gluten free crackers and provides these microwaved with cheese on top for coeliacs. I later tried this method with some corn thins and it really does work well.....
....This place was right on the seafront as you enter the town from the east and just a hundred or so yards before the ferry terminal and harbour. We didn't have much time there but I noticed a very central hotel just at the end of the street with the outdoor clothing shop and cafe above. It might have something for us as hotels often have due to the varied requirements of so many guests. ....
