Having just come back from a week on the Isle I thought I would share a few 'finds' with you. Firstly we caught the train from Leeds and I managed to buy a ham and salad made without wheat sandwich from M&S in the station. Thought it a bit pricey at £3.50 ish but it was tasty, had mustard which gave it abit of a kick. That was it on the way to Portsmouth but I had taken other things with me.
The Seahaven House B&B in Ryde catered very well for me. I took a box of cereal and had the full English breakfast apart from the sausage. Fruit and yoghurt was also available.
Apart from eating a few times at Wetherspoons and Fat Harry's for fish and chips in Sandown, we ate at Swad's curry house in Sandown, they do not use flour in any curries but it is in the roti and naan, the waiter checked with the chef what I could have and it did mention about gf at the front of the menu.
The Wonky cafe in Whitecliffe bay has Genius bread available for sandwiches, gf sausage and gf flour for pancakes but you should check first for availability and it is up for sale so the next owners could change the menu.
The Batwing tearoom in Godshill had the best scone I have tasted and other cakes. A tearoom across the road whose name I cannot remember(it has romany gipsey caravans at the front) had scones and cake and a selection of fab Quiches (which I had later with KFC fries).
In between all this the co-ops all had gf sections and there is a Waitrose in East Cowes. Sorry about long message but I hope all this helps all you lucky people who might be trekking there in the coming weeks.
