Posted by Lara on 4/7/2011, 16:34:37 I've just spent a lovely week in East Anglia and can recommend the following places for knowing what gluten free and vegetarian means and for providing me with great food. I would definately go back to all of them. The Black Lion, Long Melford, Suffolk The National Trust tea rooms, Lavenham, Suffolk (for cake only, not sure if they did a GF meal) The Greyhound Inn, Hickling, Norfolk The Angel, Ingham, Norfolk The Star Inn, Lessingham, Norfolk. www.blacklionhotel.net/www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-lavenhamwww.greyhoundinn.com/www.thestarlessingham.co.uk/

Norfolk Posted by emma on 21/4/2012, 10:32:21 a few bits of info about a recent trip to norfolk... we stayed at www.lavenderbarn.com. a great self catering place, spotless and convenient for many days out and the owner has friends/relatives that are coeliac. so when i mentioned that two of us were she altered the welcome pack accordingly...a real treat! it had: 2 bottles wine, marks and spencer g/f cakes, g/f chocs from thorntons, g/f biscuits, warburtons g/f loaf, g/f kettle chips, milk, butter, jams & strawberries too! what a welcome. also we ate at three cottages chippy in north walsham as recommended to us from the forum. thanks for the suggestion, it was fantastic, staff attentive and knowledgeable. also found the deepdale cafe, main road burnham deepdale. all ice crams were g/f and also had 4 choices of g/f cake (covered and staff aware of contamination etc) along with nice cider and g/f beer! staff were really helpful. also, in Horning, the staithe and willow restaurant/coffee shop. tiny place but had g/f cake and really helpful owners who would adapt freshly cooked meals to suit your needs. shops wise, we found budgens in dersingham, tesco hunstanton and sainsburys north walsham to all be well stocked in the free from ranges so shopping was easy. thanks for suggestions given before we went.

Posted by Ali on 21/2/2020, 20:15:48 We have just returned from a break at Clippesby Hall in the Norfolk Broads area. They were absolutely fantastic for gf good - separate prep area etc - and could not have been more helpful. Clippesby is a campsite which also has some self catering accommodation. Their café (called Base Camp) is open to anyone - you don't have to be staying there. I would recommend this to anyone needing gf visiting the area.
