Galley Bay, Antigua, Carribean Have just returned from a holiday at Galley Bay Antigua where the food was fantastic, they even bought in rice pasta so I could eat the pasta meals and even made corn bread. They highlighted the menu to show what I could and could not eat. This made the holiday fantastic for both myself and my wife as it took the pressure off her in guessing what I could and could not eat. www.eliteislandresorts.com/site/ ... esortID=10 From Albion on coeliacs board coeliacs.proboards3.com/index.cg ... 1087503199

Re: Holidays abroad Posted by Pauline on 11/8/2004 GF board The hotel was Galley Bay, Five Island, PO Box 305 St Johns Antigua. They are part of the eliteisland group. Do not know if the other hotels in the group are as good. They are in the Kuoni and Virgin brochure. Just one note this a very quiet hotel so do not expect a lot of nightlife more for the chill out holiday Link: www.eliteislandresorts.com

Re: antigua Posted by Eileen on 3/11/2005 Hi Penny I went to Antigua and stayed at the Hawksbill Beach Hotel, which was super. I got along fine with the food, no problems experienced at all..... Only one word of warning - the Manager's rum punch is lethal. It tastes just like fruit juice and after two, you want to fly! I remember dancing to the steel band and took a few steps backwards losing my balance, almost sending the band flying! Very embarrasing. Gluten Free in Antigua - The Verandah Resort & Spa Posted by twinklegraham on 4/3/2013, 22:33:42
We've just got back from a wonderful week in the sunny Caribbean and highly recommend The Verandah Resort and Spa in Antigua for a fantastic gluten free holiday.
Before we booked, we emailed the Executive Chef, and he reassured us that he could cater for our gluten-free daughter. Once we had made the booking, we emailed him again with a list of the types of gluten free food which our daughter likes eg pasta, pizza, breakfast cereal. Antigua is a small island and this gave him the chance to order everything that we needed. A week before we left, we emailed again - just to check.
We met with Chef John on arrival and we were reassured that he understood all the potential problems with feeding a coeliac - including cross contamination. Each morning we filled in special request forms to order lunch and dinner, and the meal was served at whichever restaurant we had booked to eat in. Pizza, pasta and burgers make a six year old very happy but most things on the menu could be adapted to suit a more discerning gluten free adult.
10-15 minutes spent ordering the food each morning meant peace of mind for the rest of the day. Our daughter judged this a very successful holiday: "Mummy - they didn't gluten me once!"
Oh... and it was about 29 degrees and sunny each day, and the sea was blue and there were palm trees on the golden sandy beach...and did I mention the rum cocktails....

We just went to Antigua for Feb break and stayed at Blue Waters. They were also amazing. It was a great vacation for me not having to cook multiple meals for multiple allergies.
