GF board
... decided to share my hol experience as it may be helpful to anyone anxious about foreign travel. I have just returned from my first family holiday abroad since being diagnosed (3YR ago) and found Holland an ideal destination for the self-catering holiday maker. I of course went with a car full of GF foodstuffs and then found that the main Dutch supermarket (AH - Albert Heijn) have very clear labelling of its entire range, Gluten free label on everything, even bottled water!! I also found out they have frozen GF bread and cakes (you have to ask as it is not on general display though)in all of the branches I went in to. I was also armed with the Dutch translation of 'I am a Coeliac, don't give me wheat, barley etc, etc' and found exactly the same reaction as in the UK, i.e. some extremely helpful, some looking at you as if you are some kind of freak! Overall - whole family had a great holiday, CD became a non-issue and I feel much more positive about travelling further a field in future.
