Gf board
…Booked tickets online and ordered meal online
London to Singapore
Before flight took off attendant came to ID all those with a special menu request and confirm the pre-ordered meals.
Special meals given first
GF meal (lunch /dinner)
Salad (feta, prawn, lettuce with dressing)
Steamed chicken breast, with green beans, carrots and potatoes and tomato sauce on top of chicken
Lifestyle GF brown bread (individual size)
Fruit salad
The plus point for Singapore airlines was that they offered special meal people drinks first ie while having the meal, as the last time BA gave me a GF meal insisted that I wait for everyone else to get their meals before I could get a drink.
Followed by ice cream which was labelled GF (offered to everyone)
The meal was the one listed on the internet searches and was predictable. The meal was not suitable for any veggie coeliacs though the fruit platter may have been better for them ( fruit x 2 portions, salad mo dressing, cheese, gluten bread roll).
Snacks on the plane were offered on a tray: gluten crisps, gluten sandwich, gluten chocolate and fruit. Ate my back gf sandwich and fruit.
Breakfast
Again given special meal before everyone else and again offered tea/coffee before everyone else.
Omelette with melted cheese, sliced fried potatoes, mushrooms and tomato
Fruit salad
2 x gf lifestyle rolls (butter jam)
Gf yoghurt
Singapore to KL flight was only 25mins and given coffee/tea or juice
Return flight
KL to Singapore
Juice
Singapore Airport
Was able to pick up a nasi lemak (coconut rice, anchovies and spicy tomato sauce) and salad box (pumpkin, salad, feta, pine nuts) from the main food court area.
Singapore to London
Again the stewardess came to confirm all those with special meals just before take off.
1st meal
Tuna and sweetcorn salad
Hot tomato rice, cod and veggies in a butter sauce
Rice cakes
Fruit salad
Drinks given early again
Ice cream – vanilla magnum
Snacks - gf crisps
Again useless for veggie coeliacs
2nd meal
Prawn salad
Cod with veggies and potato butter sauce (would have preferred something different)
Rice cakes
Fruit salad
Drinks given early again.
All in all the service was fantastic and I could fault them on nothing. It would have been nice if the crisps or choc had been gf on the way out. But a coeliac who has previously missed out on a booked GF meal I was delighted to be fed. My only complaint was on being fed cod twice on one flight...
