Gumbet, Turkey feedback Posted by nikki on 3/9/2008
GF board
Our second venture to Turkey..Back from a 2 week holiday in Gumbet/Bodrum area.
We were self catering and ate out twice a day at a variety of restaurants.
My coeliacs (hubby & son) stuck to plain foods (omlette lunchtimes) and steak, fish or 'shish' kebabs (no sauce) in the evening with rice and salad (NO chips as they are nearly always fried with other doubtful items)
The locals were quite keen to accomodate them, and with the help of a restaurant card in Turkish it was not a problem.
A trip to the local 'big' supermarket in Gumbet suprisingly revealed the best range of gf Schar products I have ever seen!!!! (NOT cheap though)
All meals are generally served with their own made pita bread - SO we came armed with a load of Tesco gf pitta's and they were more than happy to heat them up.
We took our own bread/toaster bags and pasta. I made a pasta salad for my cd chaps on an all day boat trip.
A fab time was had by all!!
