GF board
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday to Bitez in Turkey on the Bodrum penninsula and had the most superb holiday -so good, we are going to go back next year!
We flew with First Choice Airlines and a lovely GF meal (pre-booked) was brought for my daughter both ways. We stayed in apartments but ate out very succesfully at various different restaurants every night and some lunchtimes.
We printed off and laminated a Turkish translation explaining about CD which we gave to the waiters before the meal.

The Turks were really impressed that we had this Turkish translation and as soon as we showed them it, it was "ok, that's no problem, you can have this, this etc etc"
Two of the restaurants cooked food especially for us - we pre-ordered a casserole for all of us one day which was cooked in a pot in their log burning ovens and was amazing. They also cooked "sizzlers" and variouds other dishes especially for our daughter omitting any gluten containing ingredients.
We took a supply of bread rolls and pitta bread - they made gluten free pizza for us using our base, sitting it on foil to avoid contamination and also heated up pitta bread, rolls etc for us - nothing was too much trouble at all!
Buying food for lunches/breakfast in the supermarkets was fine too - a lot of the foods have ingredients labelled in English but if not, again we showed the card and the people in the supermarket would check it for us - we tended just to stick to plain potato crisps, yogurts, fruit, cucumbers & cheese mainly anyway but there were some drinks/flavoured yogurts that they checked for us.
We also went on a couple of gulet (Yacht) days out and the Captain was quite happy to provide food that was suitable!
It really surprises me how accommodating so many people can be whilst being so friendly towards you when I think of the problems we have had in the UK with eating out!
I had previously been to Turkey 4 times before I had children so knew what the food and people are like - they really are such a kind bunch and absolutely adore children!
