Re: Holidays ( turkey )

...I've had several holidays in Turkey since being diagnosed and found it reasonably easy to find good things to eat. I particularly like some of their vegetable dishes with yoghurt (eg aubergine in yoghurt or peppers in yoghurt). They also do a really good prawn dish with prawns in a tomato sauce with cheese on top and of course there are really good fresh grilled fish at the seaside towns/villages. I've also usually found waiters are very helpful about checking that there are no breadcrumbs or flour in a dish.
These are the sentences from the CUK travel book:-
I usually print these out and keep them in my handbag to wave at waiters who don't speak good English - on the whole this works well.
I have an illness called Coeliac Disease and have to follow a strict gluten-free diet.
Celiac (Coeliac) hastaliðim nedeniyle niþastasiz yiyecekler yemek suretiyle siki perhiz yapmam gerekmektedir.
I may therefore become very ill if I eat food containing flours or grains of wheat, rye, barley and oats.
Buðday, cavdar, arpa, yulaf unu veya tanelerinden mamul yiyecekleri yediðim zaman cok rahatsiz olabilirim.
Does this food contain flour or grains of wheat, rye, barley or oats?
Bu yiyeceklerde cavdar, buðday, arpa, yulaf unu veya tanesi var midir?
Thank you for your help.
Yardirnlariniz icin peþin teþekkürler.

...... There is very good grilled fish and nice vegetable dishes. I always take bread and crackers and the odd emrgency ration (like Ambrosia rice puddings or John West Tuna lunches). In some places on the coast we have found restaurants run by English women (married to Turks) which tend to be very efficient establishments and they can explain the menu fully.....
