Hospitals

I had my gallbladder removed 8 weeks ago, and I was given a seperate GF menu card in hospital. There were lots of options - things like corned beef hash, hotpot, chicken and chips. They came in plastic microwave meal type containers, with a plastic film on, so no contamination. Also on the menu were jacket potatoes and salad. There was a GF sandwich too, and desserts like rice pudding, yogurt, mousse and fruit. The GF menu showed which options were suitable for people with diabetes too.
The breakfast consisted of cereals like corn flakes, weetabix etc on a trolley. They served it from the trolley into a bowl. I was too groggy and tired to find out if there was a GF option, so I didn't have anything. I would imagine there would have been contamination, and I react to barley malt so even if the cornflakes were suitable for other coeliacs I couldn't have eaten them. …
(It was )
…NHS hospital (Epsom General - not a very big hospital). I was so relieved they had a GF menu. ……..
