Pad Thai (beside Portobello bridge). They have a gluten free icon beside relevant dishes. Tasty.

as we all know it's pretty hard to eat out safely. I've always loved Cornucopia in Wicklow St - they even know the difference between gluten free/wheat free. Anyway, just to let yiz all know the last three times I've gone I've either eaten or seen cross-contaminated food. I've told them but they seem to think that if they cook it gluten free that I must be a bit of a crackpot to be going on about just using the one pair of tongs, not lifting salad portions over gluten free salad bowls and the serving areas etc. I got quite sick the last time I ate there. Last night I tried it again to see if it's got better but they'd picked up a gf cookie with tongs from a chocolate pie (non-gf) so I ended up not eating there. It's such a shame bcoz they go to such an effort to make the stuff but then obviously don't train their staff enough about it. One young woman who works there was amazed to hear that a few crumbs are enough to make you sick! Has anyone else found ANYWHERE in Dublin you can eat without fear of cross contamination? *********************** Roly's Bistro at 7 Ballsbridge Terrace, D4 are excellent.....and so are the prices. The owner is coeliac - it makes all the difference. Angela O'Sullivan is the MD and their tel no is 01-6682661. Best wishes, Tom Doherty,

Dublin We ate at Wollenskys ( or something similar ) right in Temble bar , I fancied the steak and asked the waitress about the sauce , she went to ask the chef who informed her which was okay ( I think I had Garlic Sauce ) and she came back and told me. 12 of us ate there and all of us thought the food was absolutley superb even the veggie (not a coeliac) with us. Steve - Halifax ************************************************* I went to Dublin a few weeks ago - Kilkenny's Nassau Street was good - they had gf scones. Dublin, Cornucopia From Yahoo UK coeliac board .... try this link - www.vegdining.com/GetRest.cfm?rk=IRE-DUBL-CORNU - it will hopefully give you details of Cornucopia on Wicklow Street. It's a vegetarian restaurant which caters for special diets including coeliac. Enjoy yourself - I've only been once and I loved it. ***************************** Dublin For eating during the day i would recommend the Kilkenny shop as they have Gluten free scones, and now baguettes and i was told that their soup was Gluten free. I have found that most restaurants are happy enough to oblige you if you tell them that you are coleiac. Bronagh - the Kilkenny shop on Nassau street is good - they mark which main course and soups are gf (I always ask too just in case!) They also do yummy gf scones and I noticed last Friday they are now doing breakfast with gf toast. "Fitzers" in Temple Bar has GF food on the menu too - see www.fitzers.ie/templebar.shtml . And I've never been but "Roly's Bistro" in Ballsbridge (taxi driver would know) www.rolysbistro.ie- one of the chef's is a coeliac (I'm going at Christmas as a treat- can't wait!). I've found the Irish Film Centre do a lovely Greek Salad (GF) if you tell them you're a coeliac (6 Eustace St, Temple Bar, Dublin 2) and you can do some people watching while you eat! Enjoy your visit Helen

Dublin Posted by davidmc on GF board ..... I ate at the Kilkenny design centre in Nassau St, right in the centre of the city. The cafe there was mentioned in the Supp board. Imagine my delight as it surpassed all my expectations. Gluten free meals were specified, indeed the two main cooked meals on offer are virtually always GF. They had a sign offering GF club sandwiches and stocked Gf cookies from Australia. The main meal was great and inexpensive. The other meal looked wonderful too. The lady chef was friendly and helpful making sure I got all the Gf extras to go with the meal. This was the first time that I can honestly say that I have been happy eating out since my diagnosis last October. If you plan to go there remember that it is mainly open daytimes, rarely after 7pm. Well worth a visit and a nice shop too. A great GF experience at last. www.kilkennydesign.com/ didn't eat out in the evening but if I had would probably have gone to Fitzers in either Dawson St or Temple Bar or to an indian restaurant. Menus can be seen on "fitzers.ie". Their restaurants are featured in wheat-free.org and the menus which can be seen on the site look as if they cater for GF. Food in the photos looks quite healthy and appetising too but I haven't tried it as yet. There is another Fitzers in the National Gallery ,open daytimes mainly I guess. www.fitzers.ie/ ******************************************* Posted by Emma on 11/4/2004, 10:52 pm, in reply to "Re: Visiting Dublin" on GF board I visited Dublin last October and ate out in the evening. Fitzers restaurant in Temple bar was fine. Some meals on the menu are marked suitable for Coeliacs or can be adapted for Coeliacs, I chose one and I told the waitress I was a Coeliac and there was no problem. We had a very nice meal and I would go there again. It was about 9pm when we arrived so an excellent place for an evening meal.

Hello! I'm a coeliac girl from Spain. I'm going to visit Dublin and Galway this September for a week. I'd like to know nice coeliac-friendly restaurants and stores where I can buy gluten-free food. Do you know where can I buy Greens's beer in Dublin? Thank you very much, Cristina García.
hello, there are lots of nice places to eat in dublin and galway on coeliac diet, in dublin try the Talbot 101 on talbot street. its lovely, practically everything is gluten free. also you can have dessert. the pavalova or mousse. also kornucopia on wicklow street. thats nice. it is vegetarian also. in galway, try mcswiggan's in woodquay, close to city centre, also try the school house in oranmore if you have a car for transport. they are really good. kilkenny design in galway do scones gf also. unfortunately have not seen green's beer in ireland yet, still hoping. it can be bought off the internet though. enjoy your holiday
Claire Doyle
Hi Christina hope you have a nice holiday! I always find that lunch is the hardest area to cover when coeliac. As Claire said above Cornucpia in Wicklow st, and Kilkenny Design have a restuarant in Nassau St. Dublin too - they do a gf sandwich and chips, as well as main courses and some scones and cakes. Also the It's A Bagel shop in the Epicurean Food Hall in Abbey street Dublin do gf bagels but I've never tried them. If the weathers good enough Marks and Spencer (Grafton Street and Henry Street Dublin) do some gluten free salads that you could take out - they have a "crossed grain" gf sign on them, and their stuffed vine leaves and hoummous is gf too. regards Helen
Just to add - the It's a bagel bagels in the Epicurean centre, off liffey st, dublin 2 are gorgeous and you can buy them frozen as well. If you have s/c facilities, Tesco supermarket have brought out a good range of coeliac friendly goods incl. pasta and bread etc....
Restaurants - Pad Thai on south richmond street and Cafe Mao off grafton street have special coeliac menus - a great help for foreigners....
have a great time!

Dublin airport was a disaster for food. You were right. At Butler's chocolate and coffee outlet I asked about GF. I got that usual look of total incomprehension. ....Sometimes this diet really annoys me but mostly I am resigned to this sort of thing by now. Maybe if I get a bit more organised I will get the hang of travelling and being GF without eating piles of rubbish just to fill me up.
************************************* Dublin Posted by Jean - Fife on 16/5/2008 GF board ….We had a smashing time in Dublin, the weather …. was super. We ate in Flanagans in O'Connell Street, I told the waitress (an Aussie) that I required gf and I chose my meal, halfway through I found croutons! I told her and she said she told them I needed gf (she knew what it was). We had a lovely meal in Trastevere, Temple Bar Square, certain things were marked gf but had pasta with them , not sure if it was gf. We also had a lovely meal in the Quay Restaurant opposite, it was lovely and another not far from Parnell Square. We went to the Guinness Storehouse but I had diet cola! We didn't do the walk you mentioned. We bought a 3 day Freedom Ticket for Dublin Bus tours and they were wonderful, the drivers are very knowledgeable and very entertaining. We went to the Arlington Hotel for the Irish singing and dancing 2 nights, just for an hour! We just had snacks in the park for lunch as the sun was shining. In all we had a super time. The Comfort Inn was fine and I took my own bread, I bought Kelkin teacakes in Tescos. ..........

Just come back from a long week-end in sunny Dublin. By chance we found a sushi bar called Yamamori Sushi with a gluten free menu sellotaped to the front window. Never had sushi before but thoroughly enjoyed our evening here, even if we weren't too sure what we should be doing, drinking it or dipping our fingers in it (green tea we were given). Great just to be able to order something off the menu without the usual rigmarole. Not a cheap place to eat but well worth it. Their address is 38 - 39 Lower Ormond Quay, just opposite halfpenny bridge (phone 018 720003).
The other treat I had was fish and chips at Beshoff, 6 Upper O'Connell Street, the batter on the fish was lovely and crispy, again great to just walk in and order off a menu, makes life so much easier. Well done Dublin ...

Dublin Posted by AJ on 11/1/2011 GF board I had a wonderful couple of days in Dublin post Christmas. I looked at the supplementary board and also emailed the coeliac society of Ireland before I went so I knew where to go. I had lovely fish and chips at Beshoff's www.beshoffrestaurant.com/?q=node/1 (it was so lovely I ate there twice!) I also ate at the Kilkenny restaurant www.kilkennyshop.com/kilkenny-restaurant.htm where they always have gluten free options, I had a club sandwich with fries. Eating in Dublin was great, I even came home with my emergency supplies still in my suitcase as they weren't needed! ****************************

Hi.I was diagnosed as a coeliac eight months ago.Yes, I felt really sorry for myself and fed up at first(haha) although I now realise that this is the way my life has to be from now on and I have to get on with it.I'm sure everybody else feels the same way at first. But it's not the end of the world and things could be a lot worse!
For dining out I'd recommend: "Yamamori Noodles"(Japanese rest.) on Georges st.Dublin city centre -Provide a separate gluten free dining card if ask them, good vegetarian options also, staff couldn't be more helpful and very friendly.
"Pregos"(Italian) s.ctr in Lucan village: -Weeny restaurant above a take away.Chef is a coeliac.have g.f options listed on menu (though still mention that you are a coeliac!)have gluten free pasta dishes, pizzas and fab deserts!
"Rolys Bistro" Ballsbridge(posh and little pricey but worth it) -Chef is coeliac.Gorgeous food and bread to take away.Id recommend the brown!also raspberry meringue roulade for desert!
For lunch: Its a bagel in the epicurean ctr.liffey st.Dublin city centre - gluten free bagels and soups and cakes
Spud u like liffey valley shopping ctr Lucan gluten free menu

The Shelbourne and the Fitzwilliam will both cater excellently for you and they are right bang in the centre on St Stephens Green, one older traditional and the latter more modern. They are expensive and luxurious but excellent hotels. The Fitzwilliam does a good offer of a night with a 3 or 4 course dinner in the Citron restaurant and breakfast. I had a beautiful meal last time and breakfast is great because the cooked items are encased in their own steel globes with their own servers. The Shelbourne baked gluten free baps and more for a friend of mine and made her lovely GF food. They really went out of their way to help her. She let them know of her dietary needs in advance.
