THE column a couple of weeks ago sought information on places where those with coeliac disease - requiring a gluten-free diet - might eat. George Clarkson, whose daughter has the disease, recommends Barkers' store in Northallerton, the Frenchgate Cafe in Richmond, the Tawny Owl pub near Darlington FC and the TGI Friday chain nationally.

Cafe in Darlington Posted by Donna on 18/12/2013, 7:36:16 Visited Coopers Coffee House in Post House Wynd and they did lovely GF soup, I had leek & pot but they also had a red pepper variety. It came with GF toast (done in separate toaster) and was served by the chef so that the waitress didn't touch it with my daughters standard toastie. It was lovely, and only £11.50 for my soup and toast and daughters toastie (with 3 fillings)chips, coffee and a soft drink. I only went in because I saw almondy dessert in the display so knew I could eat something. I will be returning. www.cooperstearoomsandcoffeehouse5520.darlington.towntalk.co.uk/
