I just thought i would share with you my latest experience in egypt as a coeliac i recently stayed at the World Caribbean resort in Soma bay (went via Thomas Cook)(just before the recent problems started) on our first day i found the rep and explained my position (they were aware of coeliac ,sort of)she took me to reception and asked to speak to the head maitre d'it.he seemed unsure ,but we explained everything and over the course of the next few hours i met the chef ,the manager and other staff, and if there was nothing i could have ,they cooked me chicken ,beef and quail etc from their chargeable room service menu.they treated me like a princess and even brought my husband the same meals sometimes so he did not feel left out.!!i was waited on hand and foot. also after these discussions a notice regarding allergies appeared on the door to the restaurant ,not just regarding coeliac ,but also milk ,peanuts etc, also more precise labelling appeared by the diiferent dishes, specifying what each contained. i was not ill once and i would happily go back again. incidentally Thomas Cook also gave me a baggage allowance of 5kg for me to take breads etc away with me ,and i kept everything in the fridge in our room.
