We've just spent a lovely afternoon here. Many of the volunteers knew the family (and Ruth especially) personally so were giving anecdotal information. Well worth going just for that!
The tea room was also great! Gluten-free cakes marked on the menu!! It seems that National Trust venues now need to show that they cater for all diets. I asked if there was anything for me if I came at lunch time and was told they would try to help.

A mid-18th-century Palladian mansion, notable for its fine plasterwork and carved wood decoration. The Victorian laundry and kitchen with scullery and game larder are especially interesting, and there is a particularly beautiful stable block (let to the Cleveland Mounted Police).
