Had a girly pamper weekend there, first break since diagnosis. I'd called about 4 times before arrival to check they would cater for me, and went over prepared with a coolbag of goodies. I took a copy of the coeliac catering guidelines from CUK. www.coeliac.co.uk/pdf/free_pub/H ... elines.pdf Was worried about patronizing the chef, never saw him, but the waiting on staff checked every evening meal for me, and said chef was reading the pages I took. I was not glutenised!!! Very pleased. Salmon, ginger prawns and saffron mussels, yum yum and the chargrilled tuna streak with lime mayo, oh my. Then baileys creme brule, I know very naughty!!! Salads without dressing and soup wasn't thickened with flour. Breakfasts were ok, stuck to fruit, yogurt (Elm, listed in directory) and lots of tea. I took JML Toastabags, popped by lifestyle bread in them and passed them on to be done, but came back on a plate and bags were cold so didn't touch it. Just used their spreads on uncooked bread. Very successful. We were on a £90 half board, 2 nights deal, but to just eat there is £19.50 3 courses. Fish and Chips, Stafford

A colleague noticed that the Highfields fish Bar in Stafford were advertising gluten free fish and chips on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We went at lunchtime today and can definitely recommend them. Nice to be able to get them without the 60 mile round trip we had before!!
