Slug & Lettuce Posted by Sue S on Gf board 3/5/2004 The Slug & Lettuce - trendy bar in York - has recently been refurbished and their new menu clearly indicates GF dishes - two starters, five main courses and one pud! Not sure if this is part of a national chain but it's a welcome addition to available places to eat in York! www.slugandlettuce.co.uk/home.htm

Slug and Lettuce Posted by Helen on 27/2/2006 GF board I don't know if this has been mentioned before but Slug and Lettuce are now selling the Honeybuns gluten free cakes. Saw this on their menu at lunchtime today. I wasn't eating but is good to know. Has anybody had any experience of getting a gluten free meal at Slug and Lettuce? Re: Slug and Lettuce/reply Posted by Carole - Leeds on 28/2/2006 GF board
This is reply email I received from the Slug & Lettuce Quality Food Division - I think we will have to make our own minds up, whether we can risk eating at this establishment, but give them their dues, they are trying
Hi Carole Thank you for your email. I have spoken to our Head of Food Operations on the subject of indicating which dishes are Gluten Free on the menu. We hold the safety of our customers as a priority and we felt that whilst we made every measure to ensure that our products were Gluten Free, in a busy kitchen it is sometimes difficult to ensure that cross contamination does not occur. Our team members have been briefed to know which of our dishes are Gluten Free and if you have specific needs then please ask when ordering and extra special care will be given to your meal to ensure that it reaches you without cross contamination from products that you may be sensitive towards. Also after a consultation with the Head of Menu Development it has been decided that for all future menus, team members will be issued with a briefing document that will contain information indicating if the dish is dairy, nut or gluten free. If you need any further information or telephone numbers for the specific sites to enquire with the site managers before visiting then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards
Lynn Buckledee Operations – Quality Food Division
