Harvesters
Posted by Fiona on GF board.
Went to my local Harvester at Flamsted, Herts and had a lovely meal. Phoned in advance to see if they could cater and was told they did Gluten Free Foods and they would produce a list of foods suitable for me to eat. I enjoyed lemon herb chicken with a Jacket Potato couldn't have chips with peas and I had could have the ice cream for dessert. Interestingly on the list they gave me to choose from the Kids Sausages and Mash were gluten free, might give that a try next time.

They've either changed their menus then, or, have different menus in different Harvesters, as I went a couple of weeks ago, and all my daughter could have was jacket potato, or burger (without the bun), and chips (on the kid's menu).

Following up on this, I decided to phone a Harvester near us to see what they could do for us. Apparently they had a folder with an allergy sheet detailing what was good and what wasn't for all kind of allergies including gluten.
Apparently all starters were off limits but she did say about the lemon herb chicken, steak, cajen chicken (without the banana fritter) and some spit roast thing, can't remember exactly what it was.
I asked about contamination and was told that they did understand about this side of things and that as long as we informed our waitress before ordering it shouldn't be a problem...might have to give it a go.
