Gluten Free Cake

I have submitted the info for the map but thought people may like to know if they are in the area, we went on a lovely 4.5 mile walk & sculpture trail in the Forest of Dean starting from the Beechenhurst Lodge (nr Coleford). The walk takes you through some lovely forest & country and all along the way there are various sculptures hidden in the forest. The children thought it was great looking for them all. Anyhow, when we got back to the Lodge, there is a small cafe, gift shop, childrens park & play area and a huge area to picnic & BBQ. We had already had a picnic lunch but were pleased to see homemade gluten free cake in the cafe - we just had to have a cup of tea so Emily (7) could sample a piece of their cake - it was so nice to see somewhere like this - most unexpected - offering the cake.

This place is mentioned on the Support Board - though at the time of posting it appeared to serve just GF cakes.
My wife visited there at the weekend, having been around the adjacent Sculpture trail. Apparently, the choice of GF food there is now quite extensive with many GF options available. Looks like one to try out when next in the area.
Catherine also came home with a box of 'Against The Grain' GF biscuits, which I had never seen before. Very nice too.

Just come back from two nights camping in Forest of Dean. Worth mentioning two good GF eating out experiences. Firstly, at Saracens Head Inn at Symonds Yat, I tentatively mentiond Gluten Free availability to the lady taking food orders. She brightly replied that she too was a Coeliac, so was able to show me with confidence what was available.
Secondly, and mentioned elsewhere on the Support Board, Beechenhurst Lodge. They still have a large range of GF meals and cakes - they said that they started GF because they felt there was a demand for it. That demand has been so much this week, that they have been struggling to maintain the supply. Can recommend this cafe highly, though I suspect as many Coeliacs are going there, this is already widely known about.
