Hi Florence -I have been checking out messages on the coeliac ireland site and found a mention of a great restaurant serving gorgeous food in Killinchy with a separate GF menu. It didn't name it. I wonder which one it is? Any idea? Could it be Lisbarnett or Balloo House? Have you tried these? I have eaten in both in the distant past but not recently.

I could not think of anywhere else in Killinchy, other than Daft Eddy's and I like it very much but they do not have a separate GF menu. I phoned Lisbarnett without success but I then phoned Balloo and it appears they do have.
Like you, I have not been to Balloo for a very long time but it might be worth trying again.

I finally managed to get to Balloo House for lunch yesterday and was well impressed. I was dubious at first as they had trouble producing the GF menu. I was told it was because they had just recently changed their regular menu and had to update the GF version. They were very helpful in suggesting GF options and did in fact print out a revised GF menu and bring me a copy of it while we were eating. It includes 5 starters, 5 meat dishes, 5 steak options, 4 fish dishes, 1GF/Vegetarian and 2 desserts (both ice cream variations). I was told that all their sauces are cream based and therefore GF and I checked that their chips are cooked separately. Very good, I think. I’m sure if you phone them they would send you a copy of the menu.
I had seafood gratin with nicely cooked fresh carrots and broccoli. We had a portion of chips and a portion of champ between us. That and a cup of coffee cost £11.20 each.
........ I would be very happy and keen to go there again.
