EASTBOURNE - Mr Hau's, Terminus Road, Chinese Restaurant, I have eaten here quite a few times, never had a problem they don't use Soy Sauce, and use cornflour to make the batter. You need to ask for Charlie - he even takes the Foodlist to the kitchen to check ice cream. We have also had take away meals.

Went out for a meal in Eastbourne last night to a place called 'Ricos'. Phoned ahead to ask if they can cater for GF and they were very helpful.
They went out of their way when i was there to ensure that they gave me as much information as possible and were very knowledgeable in the subject. I had a lovely three course meal with no ill effects at all (apart from the hangover from the wine!) Highly recommended, I'm looking forward to going there again.

Hi guys and gals i had a fantastic weekend at the burlington hotel in eastbourne run by shearings the food was fantastic they catered for my every need and went over the top with GF options really recommend it.

Went to Eastbourne recently. On the seafront is Fort Fun. My children had a blast. Outdoor rides, indoor play area and outdoor water park. Managed to secure myself a jacket potato for lunch there.

There is a place called Ridgeway's - I haven't been but it is in the Suss ex newsletter, I also recently ate at an Italian on Cornfield Road, by the roundabout - I can't remember the name but it is very Italian and they do a gf pasta and loads of gf sauces. Also there is a Brewers Fayre at Beachy Head, again I haven't been there for a while, but I do know that there is another Coeliac who eats there and keeps them on their toes re gf maybe you could call them. Also Motcombes, Motcombe Lane, Old Town tel 734224 all home cooked, with gf desserts too.

Pomodoro e Mozzarella in Cornfield Terrace do GF pasta, I have arranged to have samples of GF pizza bases to be delivered to them too, so keep asking and hopefully pester power will win!!

GF board


I went for a day out at Drusillas near Eastbourne yesterday with a friend and her little girl (an animal park, adventure play attraction).

Unfortunately most of the animals were hiding due to the cold but on the plus side, the main restaurant/cafe had several GF options and a special GF shelf in the chiller that had quiche, macaroons and a selection of honey buns cakes.

...went on to Eastbourne and stayed at the Beach Haven Guest House. A short walk from the promenade and shops, but the owner is Coeliac and she does fabulous breakfasts.

Just had a lovely weekend at te Cavendish Hotel in Eastbourne.

It was a sort of last minute thing with my friend so the hotel only got 24 hours notice that I needed a gluten free diet, but they puulled out all the stops for me! Unlike some other hotels I have stayed at where they can't be bothered about a gluten free diet!

I had a lovely Gluten Free afternnon tea with sarnies, scones and little cakes, and much later on in the evening I enjoyed a club sandwich in the bar with gluten free bread.

For breakfast I had gluten free bread bought to me toasted and I was asked if I wanted to help myself to the breakfast hot buffet or if I wanted it plated in the kitchen. I chose to help myself as they had already told me the only things I couldn't eat were the sausages and black pudding.

My friend and I have both said that we would happily return to this hotel, just for once I didn't feel like I was making a fuss out of everything.

I visited Eastbourne last week and I have found a wounderful tea shop called Neates. Address 214 Terminus Road. I had the best cream tea ever for £4 they also do Lemon cupcakes and a flourless chocolate cake.
Will be going there again.

Found this really nice Italian restaurant when we were in Eastbourne last week. They have a good gluten free section on the menu, including pizza and pasta. They are at 23/24 Cornfield Terrace in the town centre.
