I went bowling at star city, Birmingham on Friday. Didn't have time to eat before I went out and was pretty sure I wouldn't get anything quick and "takeout" style when I got hungry.
I asked the staff at the bowling restaurant if they had anything without gluten to which he replied "What is gluten?" I knew this wasn't going to be easy. So too cut a long story short there was nothing I could eat at the bowling
So I wandered out into star city and found several places I could have had a full meal at but nothing quick. Then I stumbled across a little Indian takeout called Shobhas. They are vegetarian and quite healthy for a takeout. They cook in front of you and the chef was there to talk to.
She knew exactly what was in all her dishes and confidently told me what I could have. She asked if I also needed lactose free as well as she knew they sometimes went together. She was great. She says she caters for any diet.
I had cassava chips (cross between pototo and parsnip and fried) They were gorgeous and I felt fine after them
The lady was so nice and so helpful and it was really reassuring to watch my food being cooked that I thought I'd pass on my good experience
