Posted by Sue on GF board Sun Nov 30, 2003 2:07 pm .... the young man in the next bed was a coeliac. I was there when he had his lunch and he had a gf cottage pie with potatoes and 2 vegetables. My hubby had standard cottage pie and this was served with no extra potatoes and just a small portion of carrots. This was their first day so nothing had been ordered by them. Later in the evening when my hubby rang me he said I am going to become a Coeliac as his neighbour had had a whole snack pack for later come along with his tea. Andrew thought he was getting the better deal with much more food. I also found out on subsequent visits that the hospital restaurant had gluten free bread available for customers - it was homemade by the chef there who makes it for the coeliac patients. Unfortunately, I could only have jacket potatoes with beans or cheese with regard to hot food but it was nice to have gf bread and butter with it. www.rdehospital.nhs.uk/default.htm
