Caddon View B&B near Peebles Posted by Ross on 20/6/2007 GF board Just returned from a couple of nights away at the Caddon View Hotel near Peebles in the Scottish Borders. www.caddonview.co.uk An eight roomed B&B/small hotel the new owners (Steve & Lisa) did their homework before I arrived so they knew what I could have from their dinner menu...the venison was tasty. I took my own bread which they grilled on the cooker rather than in the normal toaster (forgot taster bags - DOH) at breakfast. They were very keen to do things right and discussed things like how to void contamination in the kitchen and even down to the need for my own wee butter dish. I think I was their first coeliac so I hope they got the impression that we are not difficult to please provided we know what is going into the food and basic hygene is followed in the kitchen. The rooms are great and the area has plenty to see. It was Beltane Week in Peebles and the Common Riding was taking place is the other Border Towns. I'm going back in November to see if the log fire will be as good as it looks.

Daughter's wedding Posted by Izzy on 15/3/2008
GF board
My daughter's wedding reception was at the McDonald's Cardrona Hotel near Peebles and they offered us a 'trial' meal beforehand. Both mothers are coeliac. The staff were very knowledgable and the chef come to the table to advise us on what we could have. He could adapt any of the choices really except for the chicken stuffed with haggis! ...the chosen puddings were not gf but the chef made us wonderful meringues with tropical fruits and cream. ....

peebles hydro Posted by mairi on 9/9/2011, 19:12:51 Just back from a short break at Peebles Hydro and would happily reccommend it. Staff clued up and dinner menu brought with GF items highlighted. There was a good choice, and I was told that they make lots of their dishes GF as they are often asked to cater for Coeliac guests. They also supplied lovely GF fresh bread. www.peebleshydro.co.uk/specials/summer_breaks.html?gclid=CMP_zLvskKsCFUQMfAodMGOSwQ
