GF board
Want to strongly recommend and praise Arisaig in Candleriggs, Glasgow.
Had lunch there on Saturday which was absolutely fab.
Easter was the last time I ate out - because I got ill, and also because I've got tons of other intolerances, therefore have been put off eating out since.
However I phoned the restaurant the week before and spoke directly to the chef (Steve) who was extremely helpful and accommodating. He faxed me a menu and marked which dishes were gf or which could be adapted. He was good at suggesting ways he could alter dishes to suit. He's been a veggie for 30 years and sympathizes with us coeliacs as he recons we're facing the same problems in choice which he had 30 years ago. I'm not veggie myself, but there were a couple of nice looking veggie dishes too, notably roast red pepper with spinach and beetroot stuffing served on rocket oil. It's in the starters section but he says he could make it a main course. I had the fillet of beef which was absolutely gorgeous, and he made a special roast red pepper sauce as I couldn't have the sauce it normally comes with.
What really impressed me was, when the rest of my lunch companions got their bread, the waitress told me the chef just had some gf bread in the oven for me! Plus he came out to check that we were happy with everything! Needless to say we left a huge tip and will be back!
