GF board
Some feedback on GF in Scotland for anyone interested :-
Edinburgh - Mexican restaurant Viva Mexico in Cockburn Street - Gf options on the menu. This place was highly recommended by the book Scotland the Best. It was packed on saturday night so the service was a bit hit and miss. The food was okay, not brilliant but at least I survived and got to eat pleasant mexican enchiladas in corn tortillas.
Hilton Dunkeld - nice hotel in beautiful estate with refurbished deluxe rooms which were very good. The dinner menu has GF options listed and my wife chose my options as they sounded good and were in fact excellent. Good help from the staff too.
The Deli, Main Street Dunkeld - best coffee around and homemade almond macaroons. Nice and friendly staff.
Dunkeld Fish Bar - AVOID! do not use even though they offer GF battered fish - it is cooked in the same oil as battered products and they acknowledge that it is not suitable for us. I wonder if the two or so customers that they serve this to each day know this. Chips not ok either.
First Coast -Dalry Road Edinburgh - beautiful food as always but beware the stir fried greens (soy sauce) and chips off limits. Ice cream fine and homemade too. Sublime. Staff helpful with GF. Excellent value lunchtimes and set 3 course menu for £18.95 at night. Some good specials especially baked coley to die for.

… House of Bruar on main A9 at Bruar , north of Pitlochry Perthshire. Huge scottish country outlet. Crazily busy at all times. Nice GF soups (check) and some salads with poached salmon etc. More possible if you ask. Lovely GF cupcakes sadly discontinued and now only poor quality commercial GF traybakes available. The shop is a gluten based bonanza but you can get Burts GF crisps and little pots of lovely Mackie's GF ice cream near the door.
