News from Droppa & Droppa 15th February 2010 New products………….. In our bid to bring you greater variety, we were very busy in the kitchen over the Christmas period developing two new pies to sink your teeth into. A hearty beef & onion pie – perfect for these cold winter nights. Prime minced beef in a rich onion gravy makes for a warming, satisfying meal. Serve with fresh vegetables and / or chips. As a complement to the beef we have created a mushroom ‘stroganov’ pie. It’s a bit of a twist on the traditional beef stroganov recipe, but it works really well. It tastes really nice with fresh green beans in garlic butter and baby roasties. The plan is to rotate some of our products as well as introducing some new ones every couple of months. As foodies we’re always looking for new things to try, so we hope this plan excites you in the same way. We are also considering a range of soups and main courses. If you have any feedback or comments on this we would be very grateful.

To mark Coeliac UK’s ‘free for tea’ campaign during Coeliac Awareness Week (10th - 16th May), we have developed some rather special treats. Scones and cupcakes, which can now be purchased from our website, help to create the perfect gluten, wheat and dairy free afternoon tea. We already supply afternoon tea for The Lanesborough Hotel in Hyde Park and the Runnymede Hotel in Windsor, but decided to extend our offering to our direct customers. www.droppaanddroppa.com/images/nwp/Doublechoc.jpg[/img] Chocolate cupcake with a chocolate icing www.droppaanddroppa.com/images/nwp/scone.jpg[/img] Scone The cupcakes come in four flavours: chocolate with a chocolate icing, chocolate with a peppermint icing, coffee with a vanilla icing and strawberry with a strawberry icing. Just imagine cupcakes, scones and sandwiches made from a variety of delicious flavoured breads such as our new fruit loaf or sundried tomato and basil, or mixed seed. Do you fancy a cup of tea now?

For the first time this Christmas we are offering something a little bit special - you can buy a Boxed Gift Set beautifully presented and filled with some of your favourite Christmas treats including: a 4.5” square Christmas cake, six mince pies, two mini-Christmas puddings and four Christmas muffins. Why not treat yourself; or maybe you have a friend or relative coming to stay during the Christmas period; or you simply want to send a special someone a wonderful gift. Whatever your motivation we’re sure this gift will both surprise and excite. They will be available from 5th November 2010.
In our bid to make the best use of local, seasonal ingredients we have developed three new products for you to try - Parsnip & tomato soup, Leek & potato soup and Blackberry & apple crumble. The Romans held the parsnip in high esteem, but ever since then its star quality seems to have faded. Sure, the roasted parsnip still makes a cameo appearance in Sunday Roast; and it’s had several bit parts as an extra in Puree, but it’s high time it took centre stage once more. A good lead requires a strong co-lead and for this we have cast the tomato. The soft, fragrant, slightly sweet flavour of the parsnip combines wonderfully with the tomato to result in a delicious, comforting soup with a vibrant orange colour. The dish provides a good source of vitamin C, fibre, folate and potassium.
For those of us with young children it’s back to school. As ever, the school holidays have flown by and we do not appear to have done very much! Still, onwards and upwards - a new year school year brings exciting new challenges, a new teacher, a time to catch up with old friends and a the chance to hopefully make a few new friends.
Best wishes
Ferenc
