From Anne on GF board: *************** Pub offers support to coeliac sufferers A VILLAGE pub is supporting people with coeliac disease after learning of the plight of one of its youngest customers. Nicole Pritchard, 13, had trouble going out with her family for a meal because she suffers from the condition which means she has intolerance to gluten found in wheat, barley and rye and becomes ill if she eats it. The family quite often meets at the Queen's Head in Needingworth and the pub went to Nicole's aid by providing her with food she could eat…… www.cambridge-news.co.uk/cn_news ... ?id=306152 Queen's Head 30 High St, Needingworth, St. Ives - 01480 463946

GF board
…there is an old fashioned tea room in St ives in cornwall called Bumbles tea rooms and they havw a small selecion of gluten free cakes i was spoiled for choice and for the first time in two years i could participate in a cream tea which was of cource the scone, jam and cream, all hand made, I was thriiled to bits it made my holiday, i didn't feel the odd one out, the only thing wa she didn't advertise it on the shop front I think the trade would have increased if they had.

Re: Super time in St Ives, Cornwall Posted by Nicola L on 9/8/2005GF board I also stayed at a super place near St Ives (Carbis Bay) It is a Vegetarian B&B called "Coast". The food is provided by "The Bean Inn" which is all part of the same place. They got in a GF cereal and rolls for me and there was always soya and normal milk, dairy free and normal ice cream etc. I've never enjoyed food on holiday so much. The dinners were healthy as well as tasty!! .... Just back from Cornwall and the following have vegetarian Gluten Free meals:
Terra Viva Vegetarian Cafe, Royal Square, St Ives (all items clearly marked plus rice cakes served with the soup).
Spinacios Vegetarian Restaurant, Old Custom House, Wharf Road, St Ives (no special GF meals, but the chef was willing to adapt several of the dishes by substituting gluten containing ingredients for GF ones plus they had GF desserts).

For picnics the wholefood shop in Tregenna Place, St Ives (opposite the Co-op) sells Clives Pies (six GF versions, but they are frozen so need to be bought in advance).

GF board
.. We have just returned from Cornwall, the fish & chips at John Becks .... are superb, really nice. We also had a carvery at The Balnoon Inn just outside St. Ives, it's info is on the supp board, really nice meal. The mount wise chip shop in Newquay also do a good g/f menu & are very clued up, even have onion vinegar! In Perranporth, a shop called Planet Ice do g/f cones with a choice of Roskillys ice cream or whippy ice cream. They have a list of all g/f ice cream on the wall & were really helpful. Both butchers in Perranporth also do g/f sausages altho they are frozen. A little further up the north coast in Boscastle, The Spinning Wheel advertise G/F menu with choice of 2 different cakes & Honeybuns individual cakes, however, we didn't eat here!

We went to St. Ives for the day, and I had a delicious gf cream tea in the Tearoom, right on the harbour. They do gf sandwiches, savoury tarts and soups as well.luckily there is a Pizza Express on the harbour front too, so I could have a pizza as well. Lots of lovely gf ice cream too. I was a bit hesitant about eating out instead of self catering, but it worked out really well.
