GF board
The Spotted Cow in Holbrook had been recommended for GF food (CUK GF on the go) but despite being told they didn't serve food until 6.30 we waited and got really narked when at 6.30 they told us they were fully booked!
No loss though as we went to "The Wheel", also in Holbrook and had a fantastic meal. The chef is Hungarian and staff really kind. 2 non GF's in the party, one vegetarian and me, and we all came away wishing we could stay in the area another night to go there again. I did spot on the menu GF gravy could be made for Sunday dinner and the menu also sates Special Dietary requirements no problem. Nothing is frozen or microwaved and ther is also a connection with the Old Plough in Weston upon trent. If your friends or partners like beer -you will end up driving! (They serve 9 real ales).

good to know this, Sian
We went to the Spotted Cow on a Tuesday night during half term. The food was very good and the service superb. It was quite empty so we didn't have your problem. Yorkshire puds were offered with the carvery but then she came back and said they'd run out of gf flour. Of course I suggested the famous Vee recipe using cornflour, lol! Anyway, I ordered a curry instead. thanks for the info on the other pub. we will try that some other time
