Posted by Kerrie on 31/8/2004 GF board Just spent a week in N.wales. The hotel we stayed at was fantastic... cleaned out a chip pan especially for Lauren and cooked her chips and roasties separate from the others. Altho we took our own gravy. They made sure all kitchen staff knew which meal was to b GF. and made it clear what meals were GF and not. The place was called... 'Betws-y-coed'... and the hotel was called 'The Fairhaven' just look on the net... i think they have their own webby. altho they dont advertise that they are good with GF. Great ppl and great food, we will definatley be going back. Give them enough notice and they will happily cater for coeliacs. We took our own mini fridge tho and i made her lunches in our room. It was a great holiday with no real worries. www.betws-y-coed.com/fairhaven.html

Small country house hotel at Trefriw on the banks of the river Conwy. Chef is coeliac and our menu (Daily Telegraph dine for £10) was marked with those dishes that CONTAINED gluten (only one starter and one main out of choice of 5 - all others and all puds were gf, even B&B pudding and stick toffee pud). Normal price is £12.50 for 2 course lunch or £27.50 for 4 course dinner. Need to book though as it's only small. Excellent food included homemade gf bread. www.hafod-house.co.uk
