Everything is freshly made daily on the premises, from natural ingredients without additives, colourings or flavourings. For those with food intolerances we can state every ingredient and our famous home-made soups are made without added stock. Not a chain, it is family run and the staff are caring and friendly. Best of all, they cater for my gluten free diet, with salads, baked potatoes, and they will fill my gluten free bread (with guaranteed gluten free fillings) so that I can have real sandwiches. Most fillings are homemade, not bought off the shelf! www.adhoc.co.uk/cambridge/eating ... &code=1089 *********************************************** Hotel in Cambridge Posted by Glenda on 13/3/2005 GF board I have just returned from a 2 night stay in Cambridge. We stayed at the Royal Cambridge Hotel. I took my GF bread but needn't have bothered they had GF bread rolls ready for me at dinner, the staff knew which dishes on the menu were GF at dinner and GF toast at breakfast. They are part of the fosestdale group but I don't know if others are as good at providing GF food. Anyway top marks to the Royal Cambridge! ...both Bruno’s in Cambridge and the White Pheasant at Fordham would be good. As the White Pheasant is a pub, it has plenty of parking. The White Pheasant actually makes the menu as to what is gluten-free. In Bruno’s they tell you, but all the mains were gluten-free.

From James on UK-Coeliac board
**************
My wife is a barrister in Cambridge and so once a year we all troop along for a worthy dinner for all of the local lawyers at one of the colleges. Usually, the food is awful and if you ever had mentioned gluten-free you’d have got a “What?” or something ruder.
This year we ended up in the Great Hall at Kings. This is the paired building opposite the chapel that is so well known. It is magnificent and well worth a visit on its own.
As we entered, I thought this can’t be bad as I was offered a satay-like starter, which I was assured was pure meat. Is the sauce gluten-free? I asked. The waitress didn’t know, but it looked it as it was a thin Thai one. I certainly didn’t have any reaction.
Imagine my surprise when I was presented with a four course gluten-free menu of char-grilled asparagus with quails eggs, tuna with a salad, confit of duck and a raspberry crème brulee. I declined the latter as it came with a biscuit, but mainly because I rarely do puddings!

Bella Pasta/Bella Italia Posted by Bobby on 29/11/2005 GF board Spotted this on the Yahoo board at health.groups.yahoo.com/group/UK ... ssage/6902 don't know if it has been mentioned on here before "had a coffee at the new Bella Italia in Cambridge on Sunday. (Wife and I went to see In Her Shoes. I liked it, she didn’t, but then she is more impatient than me! It was a bit slow, but Shirley MacLaine was great!) As we often go to Cineworld there and this seems the best place to eat after, I asked for a menu. The manager then asked me why, as I had said I wasn’t eating. I said I was a coeliac and was seeing, if I could eat something. She said, that they now do gluten-free pasta. Haven’t tried it yet, but have followed this up with their head office. Any other reports? James"

Gluten free fish and chips for the first time since diagnosis (batter made with Doves Farm flour), separate frier, storage etc -delicious, eat in or out. Expensive but well worth the pleasure of seeing my son tuck in.

Delicious market stall food in Cambridge Posted by Anna on 2/10/2013, 7:20:46
There is a stall called Gluten Tuten on the market (opposite M & S) Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I have had a spicy chicken wrap (can't remember what its actually called - chimichanga maybe?) and a treacle pecan tart on several occasions. Really nice.
