Thank you for your enquiry. We do not have a specific list, but from
personal experience I have eaten at these listed and not had any problems.
The Royal Chase Hotel which is a 3 star Best Western Hotel As you would
expect, no difficulties. 01747 853355
La Fleur de Lys which has been a resturant for a long time (and had AA 2
rosettes as such) It has now taken on a hotel so it is a restaurant with
rooms. The hotel had two stars and the new owners have improved it. Only
one booked visit, but with gluten free rolls served!! 01747 853717
The Salt Cellar is only open during the day and has views down Gold HIll.
It serves imaganative lunches and snacks. The chef has always been able
to sort me out. 01747 851838
Pulcinella is an Italian restaurant which has been very popular and just
moved to larger premises in an old church. It is open lunch time and
evening. The gluten free food is not pasta but more of the meat or fish and
vegetables variety, not just the steak and chips or jacket potato option
which I find I am often faced with. 01747 855566
The Half Moon is a pub on the outskirts of the town. Quite a popular
eating place. Only one booked visit, but entirely satisfactory. 01747
852456
The Mitre is in the centre of town. It is a Young's pub and recently been
improved. Not a lot of gluten free choice but fine. 01747 853002
The Ship is also in the centre of town and is a traditional pub. Change of
manager and only two visit since the new one came, both fine. 01747 853219
The above list is, as I say, a list of personal experience only but I hope
it will help. I have never been 'poisoned' in Shaftesbury, but several
places have changed owners since I ate there, so I have not included them.
If you would like to check the website www.shaftesburydorset.com it should
have a full list of local establishments, although the website is being
updated and may not be fully operational. We do have a hard copy of Where
to Eat in and around Shaftesbury and Where to Stay in and around
Shaftesbury which we can send you if you let us know your address.
If I can help in any other way do contact me again.
