Mallams, Weymouth
From Bernice
I quite often stay at Weymouth for weekends and found a lovely restaurant on the Quay called Mallams they actually have on their menu's special diets catered for. I had a lovely meal there and the staff were very good. It does get very busy so booking is recommended.

My sister and I went to the Sea Life Centre in Weymouth today for our 21st birthday and although there was nothing immediately on the menu in the restaurant that was gluten free, the Chef knew all about Coeliac Disease! She offered to do me chips in the chips-only fryer and made sure the chips were gf first, then sent me away to see the penguins being fed and promised they would be ready in 20minutes.
They were very friendly, very helpful and the chips were lovely! No horrible after-effects! Big thumbs up to them for being so great!

I ate at Maguires fish and chip restaurant on St Edmunds St in Weymouth last year. I called ahead to check if they could cater for me (they don't g/f every day) and they were about to clean the fryers and change the oil so kept one free for me the following day so i could come for lunch. Food was good and reasonable and they were v helpful, even did me some onion rings when I popped next door to get an onion

McGuires do gf everyday now - cooking the fish in with the chips to avoid cross contamination. It's great!

If you are looking to go out for a nice meal, i would suggest Rossini's at Weymouth, i was there last weekend and they have indicated on their menu exactly what is gluten free and the food is lush!!
…Its Mediteranian, their website is www.rossinis.co.uk/
They also do daily specials and vegetarian options. They are more than happy to discuss gluten free options with you and know what they are doing
Its my favourite restaurant and does the best steak ive ever tasted!

…intended to go to Weymouth but halfway to Dorchester it was so miisty we changed our minds and ended up at West Bay, Bridport. I had chips for lunch (hubby had the fish) the chips were cooked separately, they were the nicest chips I have had for a while (Mungo's). Then after a climb up the hill and a long seat at the top we returned to the car park via 'The Tea Station' , hubby had a cream tea and I had a piece of g/f chocolate shortcake (made by 'Jessicas') it was OK but at least I got something and she didn't look at me as though I had horns!

Just back from a great fortnight in Weymouth.
Ate twice at the Smugglers Inn Osmington, Kate had ham, eggs and chips and then potato wedges with chicken breast, fine both times.
A Cafe in the main st Bon Appetit have new owners but have opted to continue stocking GF Scones,
And a round of applause for Maguires Chip shop/restaurant for GF kids fish and chips.
Maguires was hard to find because it also goes under the name of the old harbour fish shop, and is opposite the big restaurant Rendezvouz.
Thumbs down to Prezza an Italian restaurant who point blank refused to cook GF pasta for Kate ( probably the 1st italian place I have known not to boil a pan of pasta that someone else has brought).

Had a lovely lunch today in Weymouth. It was my husband's birthday and he wanted a seaside trip with fish & chips (McGuires do gf) but it poured with rain so we decided to have a posh lunch instead. He chose the restaurant at random, hoping there would be gf for me - the menu looked hopeful. When I explained I needed gf the waitress disappeared 'to put a gf roll in the oven'. It appeared a few minutes later warm and crusty - what a lovely surprise. The rest of the menu was fine - they totally understood. It was one of the nicest meals we've had in ages and at £15.95 for 3 courses (lunch time only) good value. It's right by the harbour and the emphasis was on seafood and fish but there was also meat and a veggie choice. To be recommended for a treat though apparently they don't welcome children.
